GAEBA Webinar #1: Establishing a Self-Sustaining Eye Bank

FreeDescription: This presentation will serve as a basis for discussion about the various tangible and non-tangible needs an NGO, philanthropic organization, educational institution, or other organization will need acquire to establish a successful self-sustaining eye bank. Elements discussed will include immediate needs such as funding, workspace, and equipment. We will also examine the necessity of building religious, government and media support, and having a “champion” in the local community.

Presenter’s Bio: CEO and Executive Director for Lions Medical Eye Bank & Research Center of Eastern Virginia, David Korroch previously served as Chairman of the Board of Directors for the Eye Bank Association of America (EBAA) as well as leading and participating in many EBAA Committees including the Executive Committee, Accreditation Committee, Policy and Position Review Committee, Finance Committee, Medical Advisory Committee, Policy and Bylaws Committee and Technical and Education Committee. Additionally, Mr. Korroch was a member of the Editorial Board of the International Journal of Eye Banking (2012-2014). Since 2009, Mr. Korroch has served as a Technical Advisor and Member of the Board of Trustees Lions Medical Eye Bank of the Philippines, Doctors University Hospital, Cebu City, and advisor to President of Daqing Eye Hospital in Daqing China since 2013. He has been a member of the Board of Advisors Montero Medical Missions since 2010. Mr. Korroch is a six-time recipient of the prestigious Melvin Jones Fellowship award by Lions Clubs International.
